  • A Synopsis Of “The Otherlanders”~Written By Derrick Nadeau

This is a synopsis for a story I want to write called “The Otherlanders”. I believe this is a full novel length story, and I might even publish a (spoiler free) outline for this story in the future. Until then, check out my synopsis and feel free to leave some feedback on it below.

    THE OTHERLANDERS

Since childhood, we have all been told the stories of Dorothy, Alice, Wendy, the kids from Narnia, along with so many other fantastical tales of children who travel to magical lands to experience exciting adventures. Those wonderful stories always end with the children returning home with a newfound love of their life to live happily ever after. However, what would happen if those children came home and didn’t live happily ever after? That is where the story of the Otherlanders begins.

The Otherlanders are a group of friends who were whisked away to the wondrous land of Paxterra, a land of strange magic and outlandish creatures. From the moment they arrive, each one gaining their own set of extraordinary powers, the Outlanders are compelled to help the denizens of Paxterra fight the Corruption, an evil entity that threatens them all.

But that is not the story being told this day.

This story finds the Otherlanders years after they have returned from Paxterra. From years spent in a mental institution to a decent into alcoholism and PTSD, the Otherlanders have been denied their “happily ever after”, and instead have suffered from their time in Paxterra. One Otherlander, in fact, never even made it home from his “adventure”.

With the lives of the Otherlanders in ruins from their childhood experiences, what happens when the poor creatures of Paxterra travel to the home of the Otherlanders and ask the now grown up children for their help saving Paxterra once again?

  • Synopsis Of “The Murder Of Crows”

The following is a synopsis of a story titled “The Murder Of Crows”. The story is meant to be a long-form story, perhaps a novella or full-fledged novel.

    Here is the synopsis:

Mina has suffered from a severe case of Ornithophobia, the fear of birds, for many years. Though she is afraid of all birds to some degree, it is the thought of crows and ravens in particular that frightens her the most. Though she will not discuss the reasons behind her fear of crows, those closest to her know the dark reason for her fear.

Mina must come face-to-face with her greatest fear when a middle-aged couple moves into the house next door to her and turns the backyard into an aviary and rehabilitation center for birds. The situation is made even worse for Mina when she discovers that the couple also has a crow they have raised since birth as their personal pet.

Mina’s mind begins to become irrational as her fear of birds takes over, bringing up long-buried trauma that begins to drive her to madness. It is this journey to madness that causes Mina to begin thinking that every crow she sees is plotting evil against her. But…what if she’s right?
